Established by industrial engineer Philippe Schönefeld and naval architect Matthias Mross in 2011, German Renewables Shipbrokers GmbH. Due to rapid growth GRS became market leader in Europe and in 2015 the company was renamed to Global Renewables Shipbrokers GmbH. The Hamburg-based company owns this success in large part to their diversified team of excellent and dedicated experts who individually support all of their projects with commitment and expertise each and every day. Philippe Schönefeld

Managing Partner

Philippe Schönefeld is graduated industrial engineer and a graduate (UAS) in the field of International Transport management. He studied business management with a focus on the marine industry at the Universities of Applied Sciences in Elsfleth, Germany and Vlissingen, The Netherlands. Schönefeld's professional career started at the Rickmers Shipping Company in Hamburg, where he finally became responsible for business development and ship brokerage activities in the field of offshore wind projects. Philippe Schönefeld can point to a widespread network of partners within the offshore wind industry and numerous contacts to major untilities, wind turbine manufacturers , project developers and offshore-related service providers.

Matthias Mroß

Managing Partner

Matthias Mroß is a graduate shipbuilding engineer from the Technical University Hamburg-Harburg, Germany, and holds a diploma in ship management from the Lloyd's Maritime Academy in London. After completing his studies he joined the Rickmers Shipping Company in Hamburg, where he supported the shipbuilding programme at yards in Eastern Europe, Korea and China. He also worked in a commercial and operations position for an extensive newbuildings programme by a leading owner in the Isle of Man. At the Thomas Schulte Shipping Company, he established from 2008 onwards the new building department, which combined all previous responsibilities. Today, Matthias Mroß has in-depth knowledge on all commercial, operational and technical aspects of vessels, in particular on newbuildings, with close contacts to numerous involved parties throughout the industry.
